Hello world! My name is Alex. Well, it's technically Alexandra. I've been stuck with the unfortunate masculine nickname of Alex all my life. It's actually getting to the point where I enjoy being called Alexandra.
Anyway, here's a few things about me. Some may actually surprise you. To people who know me, I look like I'm 17. I'm actually not... I'm pushing 24 in July. I look younger than I actually am. People tell me that I'm going to be loving that when I'm older. I guess... But it's so hard to be taken seriously by people when they treat you like you're a kid! I hate it!
Another thing people get surprised about me is that I can sing opera. Yes. I can sing opera. I may not be the best at it, but I can definitely sing loud and stuff like that. I've been taking lessons at school as music major for almost four years now. My voice teacher is the best. He really is. He's taken me pretty far and I greatly appreciate all the time he has spent with me making me the singer I am today.
Anyway, even though I am a music major, I have a big, dark secret I tend to keep from a lot of people. I'm actually meant to be an English major. Sometimes you realize these things too late, but I plan on going back to school for Creative Writing or Literature. I'm still deciding on what I want specifically, but I know for sure that English is my definite calling as far as career goes. It's my entire life. It's what makes me truly happy. A certain people who will not be named here may not agree with me, but that's not their decision to make. These persons probably think it's not me or whatever, but these people I am referring to do not know me as well as my mother or my best friends do. I don't listen to those people. I know who I am as a person and am extremely happy with my decision to get a second bachelors certificate in English.
Now on to the purpose of my blog! My blog is not only to talk about my writing journey, but to mention tips and methods that have helped me through the dreadful writers block. Also, I will periodically assign writing prompts just for experimentation.
I look forward to keeping up with this blog!
Cheers!
Alexandra
